We welcome travellers of all ages and strive to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for everyone.
General Guidelines:
Every passenger, regardless of age, counts toward the vehicle's maximum capacity.
This policy applies to public travel only. A different set of rules applies to school transport contracts.
At least one responsible adult (18+) must be present with children at all times. In a standard car, this means a maximum of two children, as the third rear seat is reserved for the responsible adult. Children are not allowed in the front passenger seat. [1]
Supervision and Safety:
Children must remain under the constant supervision of their parent or guardian throughout the trip. This means the supervising adult must remain awake and attentive when children are awake.
All children must be secured in the appropriate car seat for their age and size, following current safety guidelines. [2]
Car Seat and Booster Seat Policy:
Customers are responsible for providing baby seats. Travel will not be permitted without them. However, we offer booster seats free of charge. Please inform us when booking if you need one, and we will provide it.
Handling Distractions:
If a child causes a distraction to the driver (e.g., requiring food or drink, needing a nappy change, or causing other disruptions), the parent or guardian must address the issue immediately. This includes, but is not limited to:
Feeding the child (for babies, see below).
Changing nappies or underwear (a stop at the nearest lay-by or services will be required).
Managing tantrums, kicking chairs, or causing other distractions or damage.
You are responsible for any damage caused by, or any breaches of conduct involving a child under your care.
Feeding Babies:
If you are travelling with a baby who relies on breast milk or formula, the following procedure applies:
Notify us at the booking stage if stops may be required for feeding, including the approximate duration and frequency of feeds. [3]
During travel, inform your driver when a stop is required. The driver will find the nearest services or lay-by to pull over.
Do not attempt to feed the baby in their car seat while the vehicle is moving or stationary. The baby must remain in the car seat until the vehicle has come to a complete stop. [4]
Once stopped, the driver will inform you when it's safe to remove the baby from the car seat.
If bottle feeding, the driver will provide your feeding bag from the luggage compartment (boot) containing the necessary items. [5]
If breastfeeding, please use a privacy sheet/blanket while feeding. We can temporarily block the camera for privacy while you get yourself and your baby into feeding position, and adjust the rear-view mirror for your comfort. [6]
We encourage mothers to pump in private so that bottle feeding can be done more easily in public. However, direct breastfeeding is permitted if preferred, as long as it is in accordance with our insurance and safeguarding requirements. [7]
After feeding and ensuring the baby is properly winded, please re-secure the baby in their car seat.
Any spills or messes must be cleaned immediately. The driver will assist if needed. If milk is spilled, please notify us immediately so we can mitigate any risks, remove the smell, prevent damage, and most importantly prevent allergen concerns for passengers with allergies. [8]
Additional Information from points above:
[1] This is to ensure that children are properly supervised. Maintaining supervision and control of children on a journey can be difficult, and much more so if you cant see them at all times from being in the front seat with them in the rear.
[2] While it is not a legal requirement for car seats in private hire vehicles, we prioritize safety and require car seats to be used as they would be in private cars.
[3] This helps us better plan your travel. We fully understand babies can be unpredictable and do not hold parents accountable for this fact of life, however please give the most accurate figures you can.
[4] Feeding a baby in a car seat is extremely dangerous and can lead to death through choking, or through an accident during the time they are unsecured and out of the baby seat. This is a completely unacceptable risk.
[5] In accordance with our Food and Drink policy, Milk can not be transported in the passenger section of the vehicle.
[6] Please note that we can not turn off the camera or block it for any longer than what is required for you to get into position.
[7] We must always be recording as part of our insurance terms to protect both the customer and the company.
[8] Failure to clean up any mess immediately will be considered damage to our vehicle and will be treated as such, However informing us about an honest/common mistake is appreciated, not penalised.
